That time we were in the Cash Cab!

Megan and I were college roommates, and are still best friends to this day. No, it was not as confusing as you'd think living with someone with the same name as you. We learned how to differentiate who was talking to whom based on the context of the conversation.

One of our friends came to visit for the weekend, but we had to drive her back to her school, because she doesn't have an american drivers license. On the way back, Megan and I had a very in depth discussion about snaps.

Specifically, we were debating about how the snap sound is made..

Oh nene, your gifs never fail me.

  • The other Megan claimed is it caused by the friction between your thumb and finger.
  • I, the obviously more intelligent, funnier, wiser, more humble of the two, said the sound came from your finger making contact with the palm of your hand.
We seriously had about a 30-45 minute debate with coincided with lots and lots of snapping action. Finally we realized we weren't going to make any progress towards solving this world wide crisis alone. Since this was pre-smart phone days, we couldn't just google it.. we decided to call random people and ask them.
As I was dialing the first person, I realized it was a total cash cab move and told her we were going to pretend we were in the cash cab! We called probably about half a dozen people telling them "Hey, I'm on cash cab and I need your help.." We'd explain the question and they ALL would say, "hold on, let me think" and we would listen closely and hear them snapping in the back ground.

We could not keep our laughter silent. It was so hard.
They seriously believed us! Some even called back later even asking how much money we had won!
Just to keep the story going, we shared it with FB (this was back in the the day when you texted your status update. Remember that?) They also got all into the idea. Snaps to the person who actually was smart enough to realize that we hadn't jetted off to NYC recently.

We still get a kick out of it. Oh, and FYI.. for those of you that were wondering, I was right.

The friction from your fingers rubbing together can be heard briefly before the snap, as a whisking sound. The snap itself is from the impact of your finger against your palm.

Liebster Award

I've been nominated for another Liebster Award by Carlee. How stinkin' exciting?!

Just to recap, Here are the rules:
1. Link back to the person who nominated you
2. Write 11 facts about yourself once nominated
3. Answer the 11 questions from the person who nominated you
4. Come up with 11 questions for the 11 people you nominate
5. Nominate 2 to 5 bloggers for the award

11 Questions:
1. What made you decide to start a blog?
I started a blog in high school, kind of as a journal more so than a blog. I kept up with it for quite some time, just writing about the play by plays of my day or little things here and there that I wanted to save. It's still there, but I'm not going to ever tell you where it's at. Now, I'm starting to really grasp what blogging is all about, and I'm taking it a lot more seriously than sharing what I had for lunch. Okay, maybe I still do that..

2. What is your dream job?
I want to work for a record label. Something not too big, but not too small.. a bring your dog to work policy would be a bonus. I love music and I miss my internship. The best times of my life were spent on the road with the artists and in the office planning their albums and shows.

3. What is that one embarrassing song that you can't get enough of?
Call me maybe? I'm not sure.. That's a hard one. Some of the "weird" ones I am totally not embarrassed about.

4. Celebrity Crush?
David Ross or Matt Lanter

5. What's one thing on your bucket list?
Run with the bulls in spain

6. Morning person or night person?
I'm kind of both.

7. Heels or flats?
Ew, toughy. I love wearing heels, and I love the way they look, but 80% of the time, I'm wearing flats to work, because I do so much running around the office. My feet can't handle that much ground coverage in heels.

8. You're stuck on an island for a week, what three things do you bring?
Wifi Card, ipad, sunscreen

9. Favorite book you've ever read?
As strange as this is going to sound, He's just not that into you.

10. What kind of purse are you carrying right now?
This little number

11. What is one beauty item you never go without?
Foundation.. if I got to pick two, the second would be eyeliner

11 Facts:
  1. I hate clutter.
  2. I typically prefer the mountains over the beach.
  3. My favorite desert of all time is peach cheesecake.
  4. I once pranked all of my friends by calling them to ask them random questions and telling them I was on cash cab.
  5. Wednesday is my favorite day of the week. My trivia team is better than your trivia team.
  6. I still have my original spice girls cassette. I know your jealousy is overwhelming.
  7. I have danced on stage with the band.
  8. I have never been stung by a bee.
  9. I was a double major in college.

Not-so-Saturday Instagram Recap

I've been at the baseball field all weekend and have barely had time take pictures, much less blog this week. It's also very late and 5 am will come sooner than I wish, so I'll sum up my week and weekend using my instagram pictures.

My blog got a facelift! I love, love, LOVE it! That includes a new button. Go grab it!

Tuesday night we went to watch the Braves beat the Pirates. Look at that stud :)

Wednesday we had a health fair type thing day at work. This is the print out of my health report. I passed everything with flying colors. You go me coco!

Thursday night was the MLB Draft.. not that I let you forget.

Clint Frazier, one of Billy's former players, got drafted 5th overall to the Cleveland Indians! Austin Meadows, another of Billy's Team Elite boys, also went 9th overall to the Pittsburgh Pirates! What a big night for them! I'm so proud and excited for their futures.

My new ipad case I ordered from etsy finally got here. It's PERFECT!  I'll have to share a funny store about it's shipping process one later.

Yesterday I traveled with my two favorite companions to this weekend's baseball tourney  We had a very early game, so decided to sleep through the warm-ups in the car. I laid my seat back and proceeded to catch some z's. This little wiggle worm in the back seat kept squirming and I couldn't seem to fall asleep hearing her  rustling around against the leather. She gave me this face, and I couldn't even dare get mad at her for it. I swear it's not possible for me to love anything more than I love this little girl.

Learning to be an early riser

This week I have been terrible, down right horrible about getting in bed at a decent hour. Monday, I stayed up late watching Revenge--totally worth it. Tuesday, I didn't get home till midnight from the Braves game--again, totally worth it. Last night was trivia, and Ret talked me into staying and watching Redneck Island with him at the bar so I didn't get home again till almost midnight--not so worth it.. Last night's decision was rather unfortunate, because today I started my new work schedule.
Why do I do these things to myself?!

I now have to run morning tests on the system before every work day starts. I test at 5:30 at home, and then I drag drive myself into work aiming for a 6 am arrival time. Believe it or not, I actually called shot gun on this shift, because I now get to leave at 3 (which I think I got the raw end of the deal, as I was getting here at 7:30/8 and leaving at 4.. but whatever).

Last night's adventure should have been cut just about an hour short {consequently the same length of Redneck Island.. again, why did I watch that?}. I got up this morning, actually an hour later than I was supposed to come to find out (I heard times wrong), and I am still doing this little number..

I will have to learn to say deuces to the world and crawl into my bed sooner from now on. On the upside, I'll now have the entire traffic free afternoon to do whatever I want! Traffic is half the struggle of why I can't get anything done on week days. Had you told me in college that I would be working at 6 am, I would have laughed in your face and braced myself for the impending firing that was going to occur, because I could hardly wake up at 8, and refused to take classes before 9:30 at least!

I'm going to have to find myself a new late night/early morning regimen to make sure that I am all bright eyed and bushy tailed for work. However, I am not completely ruling out doing my makeup at my desk, since I will be the only person in the office at that hour anyway. I think step one is going to be to begin drinking my apple cider in the morning (I loathe coffee). I just need to get back to the orchard and stock up on the good stuff.

Does anyone have any tips to help me drag myself out of bed every morning now?

What I would do If I won the lottery

So word on the street is an 84 year old lady in florida recently won $590 million dollars in the state lottery. I'm surprised she didn't kill over there and then with a heart attack. Good for her, I'm sure she  is thrilled (as will her relatives be soon) ..okay enough with the old people jokes.

I got to thinking earlier today, what would I do if I won the lottery?

First off, I'd pay off my student loans. I have about an average amount, and right now it's a huge goal to pay it off, even if I don't ever win the lottery. The lottery would just make it hurt a little less getting my account zeroed out. I'd probably be nice and pay off Billy's loans as well..

Next I'd buy a very nice house.. specifically in Nashville.

I'd also buy myself a few toys like a bright red jeep wrangler and a charcoal gray Camaro Convertible. yummy! I'd also buy my parents and Billy new cars. Billy's poor truck is starting to get a little age on it and might not be with us much longer. I'd love to buy him a new truck or whatever vehicle he chooses.

I'd also buy the beautiful property adjacent to the cabin. I love tat piece of land and I don't want anything to ever happen to it.. aka I don't want someone else to put an ugly house on it and we can't enjoy it's view anymore.

I would like to pay for renovations on my parents house. They've been wanting to update a lot of things for a while, but haven't had the money or time to to the projects themselves.

One thing I couldn't forget is that I want to put a good bit of money back for the wedding of my dreams.

Of course, when you come into that much money you have to make a worthwhile investment. Or at least, that's how I feel. I'd love to invest some money into a record label. That way I can also be part owner :) I miss being in music, that would be the perfect excuse to get my head back in the game.

Speaking of music.. If you're going to be around twitter tonight, be sure to follow me as I live tweet my thoughts for tonight's CMT Awards show!

Taking a second to brag

The 2013 MLB draft is this week--Thursday to be exact. This is a big deal in my world, as Billy's life and career is devoted to baseball. Every year it is crazy to see friends or people we have met get selected to go play ball professionally. This year, it is extra special as he is about to see another handful of his former players' dreams come true.
Even more cool, two boys that play for Team Elite are projected to be top 1st round selections! That's a pretty big deal! Such a big deal, that those two boys are actually featured in the latest issues of Baseball America AND Sports Illustrated, because they are the top high school prospects in the country!!

Uh-hellerrr! That's pretty freaking sweet!

Right inside the front cover of Sports Illustrated

The first page of the article in SI

COVER of Baseball America

I am so freaking proud of what this means for all of the boys and the Team Elite staff! Both the boys and their coaches bust their buts in and out of the season, and I love to see them reaping the benefits. Go out and grab a copy and read about the baseball powerhouse factory we have here in metro Atlanta and about Clint and Austin, the two studs. I can't wait to see what Thursday night holds for them! If you get the MLB network, you can watch and see both of the boys Thursday night!

Things I learned (or relearned) this weekend

My OCD doesn't go away, even when it involves moving. Billy's family moved this weekend. We got everything moved in about half a day's work. We moved their stuff like champs. However, once we got to the new house and the unpacking portion of the process started, I suddenly got really cranky. I even remember trying to come up up with an explanation as to why I suddenly got snappy and easily annoyed yet I couldn't walk away from everything and cool down. I didn't realize until on my way home just now that it was my ocd. I get extremely mad when there are messes and things are not in their place. It's not even that things have to be organized from large to small, but everything has it's place, and that's where it needs to be. There were boxes on boxes and stuff was half put up and It was driving me mad, but I couldn't stand to let it sit there, but the little voice in side my head kept saying "must. unpack. everything! Must. throw. away. bubble wrap." The second I walked back into my non messy apartment and took a shower I felt like I was on a tropical vacation. Ahhhh
I am not a beast, despite what I think. My back is telling me this right now. I picked up things that a 100 pound girl should not have even thought about picking up or trying to move. I moved all of Billy's bedroom furniture around his room in his new house by myself (Where was Billy you ask? Baseball is more important to him than moving or letting his girlfriend break her back), and picked up way too many boxes of books. My back my also be yelling because Billy's grandpa, went ADD on me while I was putting Billy's bed together, and forgot he was holding a mattress and box spring up against the wall.. without warning, It all came crashing down on me.
That being said, I bruise easily. I have a total of 8 bruises that I can see that I have no recollection of how or what I did yesterday to gain such a lovely color of purple. Even my knuckles are bruised for crying out loud!
I am dog whisperer. Billy's cousin got a new puppy this spring. Today, in a matter of no time, I taught her the coolest trick she'll ever know. How to play dead when you say "BANG." I know. BADASS!
Somehow in all of the moving process, I miss placed my purse/clutch. I was supposed to go to my roommate's wedding shower this morning, but when I got up and was about to start getting ready, I couldn't find my purse. I spent a good bit of the morning looking for it until I realized there was no shot I was going to make it in time. About noon, I found it stuffed in one of Billy's drawers. I guess I sat it in one of them because I knew it would make it to Billy's room, but didn't really let it sink in when I did it. I learned to keep up with my stuff.

I am also learning how great it is to sleep in your own bed. Well, more so a comfortable bed. Billy's bed sucks.. right now mine feels like a cloud that angles fluffed just for me. Now those angels are strongly encouraging me to enjoy my freshly fluffed pillows and bed and visit dream land.
Goodnight, ya'll!
