#ValensVersary

This Friday, Billy and I were FINALLY able to celebrate Valentines and our 4 year anniversary. The snow and baseball kept postponing the night, and I was getting quite frustrated, but we finally made it happen!!
I still had a rather large gift card to Buckhead Life Restaurants as a work anniversary gift that we decided to finally cash in! I let Billy chose which one of the restaurants we ate at, and after much, much deliberation and a few recommendations, we ended up choosing Buckhead Diner.

I was so, so excited about my outift for the night. I may have been a smidge fancy for the Carolina Leagues, but initially when I was shopping I had no idea where he was planning on us going. I knew Buckhead Diner wasn't over the top and I may had been a bit over dressed. Then again, I loved the dress and I was totally ready to rock it!

I was so tickled pink when Billy arrived at my apartment all dressed up with flowers in hand. It has been a while since he has picked me up with flowers, and it was so sweet to see that sight again. I felt like a pretty darn lucky girl.

We were told that we could not visit without having the Chili Thai Calamari. It was absolutely amazing, and I would order two of these again the next time we go. Delicious!

I chose the Blue Plate Special for the night, which was a grilled hanger steak topped with maitre d' hotel butter and cracked pepper steak sauce paired with green beans and Yukon Whipped potatoes  as sides. Oh, so, so good

Here's to many, many more #ValensVersary dates with this handsome sweetheart!!

My recent favorite pins

Libester ..and the ones I've forgotten to post

I have to admit, I've been horrible at keeping up with my Liebster nominations. I love reading other peoples answers and posts, but I feel like mine are a little lack luster. Since I've been snowed in for a week with nothing to do and therefore haven't gotten to celebrate #valensversary (which I am absolutely livid about it), aaaaaaand it is a goal of mine to post at least twice a week in February, you get a liebster post!

The Liebster Award is a way for bloggers to celebrate other bloggers. It's passed down from one blogger to another, as long as the blogger has less than 200 followers. If you choose to accept the nomination, here are a few rules to follow:

1.  Answer the questions from the person who nominated you.
2. List 10 facts about yourself.
3. Create 10 new questions.
4. Nominate 5-10 bloggers with less than 200 followers.
  • I almost always have a Stress Relief candle from Bath and Body works burning in my apartment. Not because I find it de-stressing, but because I just love the smell of eucalyptus.
  • I jumped out of a plane, but didn't think it was that big of an adrenaline rush. True Story.
  • My favorite colors are coral and turquoise
  • I have been pulled over 8 times and have never received a speeding ticket.
  • I love traveling, but I hate living out of a suitcase
  • My biggest fears are dying with regrets and growing old
  • My mind houses the most bizarre useless trivia and facts you could ever want to know
  • My favorite colors are coral and turquoise
  • I taught my dog how to bark when you say "Go Dawgs, Sic em" ..I don't even care about UGA football, I just thought it would be a neat party trick.
  • I am a sucker for a good bargain. I am the queen of getting deals and saving money.
My first nomination was from my dear, dear Mrs. Hopper from Baseball Diamonds and Hairspray

1. What TV show are you addicted to right now?
Scandal!

2. Tell us about your favorite moment in life ever.
Hands down. I would give anything to go back and be that free, wild girl again. This was the day that I met some of my favorite friends from high school. We had such an incredibly fun day that day. It was the beginning of an era in my life that leaves me breathless. I know that sounds cliche, but because of that circle of friends, I had one of the greatest high school experiences ever.

3. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
My teeth. I hate my teeth. I need braces, but at this point in life I am saving money for a "Megan's changing her last name" party, and not for braces.

4. What is your favorite season out of the year and why?
I used to LOVE Summer. I only felt alive in Summer, heck I still do. However, with my boyfriend being gone for weeks on end for baseball that time of year, I have quickly become less fond of the season. Now my heart belongs to Fall.

5. Who is your favorite author?
Nicholas Sparks, cliche..
and Dan Brown

6. What book would you recommend to read by he/she?
A walk to remember and The Davinci Code

7. Where do you want to take your next vacation?
I want to go on a cruise with a big group of friends. However, right now I am saving my pennies for a trip to Peru next winter for a wedding.

8. What is your favorite meal?
sushi, pasta, or chicken and dumplings or anything with a side of fried green tomatoes

9. What was the last movie you watched?
Lone Survivor

10. If you could meet one celebrity who would it be?
Garth.
I love that man. I expect him to be like a neighbor, someone very down to earth.  I'd love to hear some of the stories of his career.

These questions came from Kristie over at Kristie's Bluejeans

1. Favorite season of the year?
see above!

2. Favorite cocktail?
Burbon and Coke or a Sangria

3. Favorite TV show on?
Oh lord, there are so many!
Scandal, Vampire Diaries, How I met your mother, Big bang theory, Revenge, Pretty Little Liars, Impractical Jokers, White Collar

4. How do you feel about the hipster trend of beards?
I don't consider beards hipster, but I could care less either way. I grew up around "mountain men" so they aren't really new to me

5. What made you start blogging?
I started blogging when I was in high school. I didn't blog for followers, I simply did it more as a journal for myself. I didn't start taking blogging seriously or as a way to share with others until a year ago. Since then I've been using my blog as a way to document things going on in my life (I think of it as my digital keepsake box) or as a way to share with anyone who is willing to read.

6. If you could do one job for the rest of your life , what would it be ( sorry no stay home mom's, as much of a job as that is)?

I would love to be a wedding planner or something at a record label. I so miss being in music and the event industry. However, I feel like that ship has sailed and I am going to be doing IT stuff for the rest of my life. I'm okay with that. I like my weekends, and I like working 9am to 5pm, rather than 9pm to 5am.

7. What is one of your biggest regrets?
I don't really regret anything, but if there is anything I wish I would have done different, it would have been to  major in Music Business. I came so close to transferring and changing my major, but I was too comfortable and too anti-moving back home to do it.

8. What is the biggest thing you hope to accomplish in 2014?
As dumb as this sounds. Either put a lot of money into savings or pay off a huge hunk of student loans. Right now, it's all going into savings.

9. One beauty trend you wished you never tried?
I have to admit, there are few beauty trends I look back on and regret. I'm not all that trendy, and I don't do things unless I LOVE them.

10. Greatest childhood memory?
I spent practically every day of my childhood at my grandparents house. I'm not even kidding, 6 days out of the week and occasionally 7. I would spend hours on hours on hours traipsing through the woods and barns. As soon as the dew on the grass dried, I was outside until it was too dark to see anymore and my grandma was calling me in for dinner. My imagination was always churning. I had all of the forts I had made with some old pieces of junk laying around the farm. One of them is still there today. I loved days spent with my grandma and granddaddy

11. One random fact about you?

I have never broken a bone

4 years

Today is opening day of Billy's 2014 High School season. Ironically today also makes 4 years of me being his biggest fan from cheering him on from baseball stadiums and stands all over the southeast.

In honor of our 4 year anniversary, lets take a walk down memory lane

Our first picture together: Circa Jan 2010
Coyote Ugly Themed Party

Billy's 22nd birthday dinner in Atlanta

At their conference championship in Florence the morning before they won their bid to the 2010 NCAA World Series!

Halloween: James Dean and a Ballerina

This has always been one of my favorites

Our first Christmas together
We try to stop here every Christmas Eve to take a picture together. This was our first year.

Snowed in during our first Christmas together

That tush :)

One of the many Saturdays I spent on the hill cheering on my bobcats!
I promise I don't dress in weird crap like this shirt all the time. It was early spring, and I was getting in any sort of tan I could in any way I could.
Billy's Gradation: May 2011

July 4th, 2010. This was my first trip to the cabin with his family, also the weekend we got Casey.

Thanksgiving 2013, Our present day mini family.

If you care to keep updated on all of the anniversary events and such, you can track us using #ValensVersary.
I don't blame you. We're cool kids, you know.

Sunday Social: I am a tv-show-aholic..

1. What is your favorite thing to watch on a girls night?
Usually, when I'm getting together with my roomies, we end up watching episodes of Real Housewives of {Random City}. We've also been known to sneak in One Tree Hill, Bones,  or Army Wives.

2. What is your favorite thing to watch on your day off?
As I said, I am a tv-show-aholic! I make my way through just about every tv show I can get my hands on on Netflix. So generally, my days off are spent covering a lot of ground on my plethora of shows I am watching at any given time.  My latest TV obsession, as old as the show is, was Friday Night Lights.

3. What is your favorite thing to watch when you're sick?
Things that you've seen so many times you know the entire thing by heart, like pretty woman, Friends,  Dawson's Creek, or OTH. Basically anything that boarders boring, that way you don't feel obligated to stay awake during the whole thing.

4. What is the last movie you saw in the theater?
Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit
This was Billy's pick, and I had no idea what the movie was about going into the theatre. However, I totally loved it! Two thumbs up from this girl!

5. What are your top three favorite movies or tv shows?
Movies: The Davinci Code, The Grinch, Emperor's New Groove {So mature, Megan..}
TV Shows: Scandal, Vampire Diaries, How I met your Mother {Fav shows that are still being aired at least}

Playlist Must Haves

It's been a while since I've had a full playlist I've truly been borderline obsessive over. Not to toot my own horn, but I always have a pretty jam up playlist, but every so often I out do myself with my ability to compile a pretty badass playlist. Here are some highlights:

Note:  I am sorry YouTube is a pain the butt these days and that some of these videos are not playing within the page..

Give Me Back My Hometown - Eric Church

The songs that Eric Church writes sometimes resonates with me the same way Brantley's songs do. I can preverbially see and feel these things happening right in front of me. I get the feeling, like B, that he writes things that are real, and not something just made up by he and whoever he has as writing session with that day. I know I'm probably wrong, but this one is much welcomed after the not-near-as-good Outsiders.

Oh My My - Michael Warren

If you live in Alabama or went to college in Tuscaloosa, I assume you've heard of Michael Warren.
Michael Warren : Tuscaloosa :: Corey Smith : Athens
I've been listening to what few cuts I can find on youtube after my friend, Haley (An Alabama Alum), raved about him. He has recently moved to Cali to chase his dreams of becoming a professional singer/songwriter. Obviously, he's getting somethings done while he's out there. This is his new single that gets my toe tapping everytime!

Hope You Get Lonely Tonight - Cole Swindell

I heard my first Cole Swindell song this time last year. It was love at first chorus. After seeing him live, I was sold on this guy.  He learned from his mentor and friend, Luke Bryan, how to work a stage early on apparently. There are so many good songs to choose from, but this one and "Let me see you girl" are easily two of my favorites besides "Chillin' it," of course. In my opinion, Cole is the up and comer to watch out for in the country scene.

Get Me Some Of That - Thomas Rhett

This song is just plain sexy. It makes me feel sexy, because he's singing it to me, I'm sure. I'm pretty sure I listened to this song 3/4's of the entire time I was in Nashville two weeks ago. Billy and I have a few jams that consist of for example, John Deere Green and this song. We both get down with our bad selves.

Leave The Night On - Sam Hunt
I hope by now all of you have heard one of my new favorite songs, "In the Back of a Cop Car" which is Keith Urban's current single. He's got this R&B flare with country-like roots. He's one of my current obsessions. Not to mention, he's another Georgia native!

February Goals

I, and likely you too, have come to realize my life has been pretty stagnent lately. In order to give myself some life direction, I am going to start setting goals for myself each month to help give me things to work towards and things to help "keep the magic alive." I can't let this winter time cabin fever get the best of me!

  • Attend as many of Billy's baseball games as possible
  • start a new skin care (specifically face) regimen -- I'm all open to suggestions, ya'll!
  • Surprise a friend
  • Sign up for my CAPM certification
  • File my taxes
  • Spring clean my Apartment -- provided I decide to stay here for another year.
  • Try a new recipe
  • Get wedding gifts picked out if not purchased for at least two of the weddings we are attending this summer
  • Eat out less, Save more
  • Replace the brakes on my car
  • Blog at least twice a week
  • Go see my Grandma
So here's to knocking them out!
